I'm starting my 2 week work placment today, looking foward to it.
I'm gonna try and get some kids togehter and teach them that rugby is not the same as ameican football. Justin, I guess you came across the same shocking truth in Norway before you educated them with your videos and knowledge.

Inspired by what you did Justin, I'm aiming to have some training sessions after school time. I can't reach all of the pupils during timetabled lessons and I want to give everyone the chance to get involved.

I hope I have more news as the next 2 weeks pass.

Later
Scott

Well done, Scott! I hope it all goes well for you! If you want any tips, drop me an email or send an sms! I am there to help.

It annoys me that people think that American Football is rugby, or that rugby is American football. The thing is, people haven't taken the time to closely look at both sports. What suprises me, is that american football is available for people to watch in Norway. I mean, they can watch some, not many, american football games on tv. You cant watch rugby games on tv though. So how they associate rugby with american football is strange....

Anyway, most of the kids at my school know that rugby is not american football. Lol, that reminds me of an incident that occured some time ago. This new kid had arrived in the 7th grade, and the kids were talking about rugby all the time. Then, the new kid said "oh that game. That is the game where they throw forwards, isnt it?" Then, one girl, annoyed, said "NO, YOU HAVE TO THROW BACKWARDS IN RUGBY". Made me smile when I heard that biggrin.gif

Gold star for that girl then. It's the same thing here with American football. Some kids have played what they call "rugby" in school, and it's often based on american football. So when I come along and teach them proper rugby it takes nearly a whole lesson before they get used to passing backwards, but at least they understand eventually. I'm always sure to inform them that we don't have the same amount of protection as those chickens in USA aswell, ha, ha.
